1. Service purpose
kanjikaki is an educational tool for checking kanji in Japanese text, reading information, and handwriting practice. Results may be used for personal study, classes, and non-commercial education.
2. Level labels
JLPT does not publish an official kanji-by-kanji syllabus. JLPT labels are therefore educational comparison values derived from Kanken and school-kanji bands, not official certification or an endorsement by JLPT, the Japan Foundation, JEES, or the Japan Kanji Aptitude Testing Foundation.
A text level is not determined by one difficult character. It uses the token-weighted 90th percentile of the kanji appearing in the text. The data tab explains the mapping and sources.
3. Permitted use
Analysis results and handwriting practice may be used for personal study and teaching. Automatically collecting site data for a competing service or reselling it as source data is not allowed. External text, dictionary, font, and stroke data remain subject to their own licenses.
4. Changes and limitations
We may change or temporarily suspend parts of the service to correct data or improve features. Results are not guaranteed to be complete and should not be the sole basis for important exam, translation, legal, or medical decisions.
